The union between two villages throughout history

In the heart of the Eume, the railway bridge stands as a connection symbol, both between the peoples of Pontedeume and Cabanas and between the industrial past and the surrounding nature.

Built in 1910 and renewed in 2024, this forged iron bridge, with its blue distinctive and pillars of granitic masonry, crosses the Eume river and offers spectacular views of its mouth. Here, where the waters of the Eume meet the sea, the landscape becomes a unique place that invites to stop and enjoy the environment.

The railway bridge is not just a step between two shores, it is an invitation to explore the surrounding landscape. When walking on its platform or admiring the view from the pedestrian platforms, you can feel the connection with the estuary and the story that this bridge houses. The sound of water and the view of fishing boats make this place a unique observation point, ideal for those looking for a quiet and authentic experience.

An engineering work with architectural value

Its combination of aesthetics and functionality makes it a significant milestone of regional infrastructure.

The bridge supports the railway line between Betanzos and Ferrol, which was inaugurated on May 5, 1913, after a provisional opening to the traffic on February 4, 1912. The walls and pillars of the bridge are built with granitic sadder while the platform is sustained by a structure of wrought iron beams, designed with jealousy in Cruz de San Andrés and Curved upper heads.

It has interior platforms on both sides of the railroad track, facilitating pedestrian traffic between the shores. The metal sections, 40 meters at the ends and 70 meters in the central section, are formed by two longitudinal beams linked by transverse viguetas.
