The cultural wealth of the Eume region is expressed strongly in its festive calendar.

From ancestral pilgrimages in forests to artisanal markets or gastronomic festivals, the Eume festivities keep the Galician spirit alive. Some are massive, others more intimate, but they all have in common the hospitality of their people and the authenticity of their traditions.

Next, we welcome you to a tour of the main events, municipality by municipality.

Pontedeume

Festa das pears (September)

The Pontedeume Patron Festivities fill the municipality of activity for six days, with events such as the Mómaros parade (giant figures), dawn, masses and processions, concerts, verbenas and sports competitions. In addition, markets with local products and crafts are held. A party full of tradition, culture and fun for the whole family.

Medieval Feirón de los Andrade (June)

During a weekend, the old town is transformed into a medieval town with markets, shows, Celtic music, parades and artisan demonstrations. Ideal to go with children.

Cabanas

Santa Marta party (July/August)

Held in honor of Santa Marta, Patroness of Cabanas, this holiday includes processions, solemn masses and popular activities such as verbenas, traditional music and events for all ages. It is one of the most important religious and cultural citations in the municipality, with a very familiar environment.

Xiracán (July/August)

In this original festival, designed to raise awareness about animal welfare, various activities such as workshops, talks, music and even a walk are organized. It also has foodtrucks, a picnic and a solidarity market where new and second -hand articles are sold, as well as a collection of foods and cats. 

The event is an excellent opportunity to enjoy a family or friends, at the same time promoting responsible adoption and respect for animals.

As Pontes

Fungi and mushroom fair (November)

In November, As Pontes becomes the epicenter of mycology with its fungi and mushroom fair. The event includes a mycological exit guided by experts, where participants learn to identify edible and toxic species. The collected specimens are exhibited in the tent installed in the Plaza de América, and awards are awarded to the best mushroom baskets. 

In addition, the fair offers gastronomic tastings and cultural activities related to the world of mushrooms.

Festa do Grelo (March)

The Grelo Fair is one of the oldest gastronomic festivities in the region, which is already for its 44th edition. This event celebrates the Grelo, a typical turnover of the area, through tastings, culinary competitions and cultural activities. 

To accompany the food, the fair includes concerts, traditional games and a sample of local crafts, offering a complete experience for the whole family.

A capela

Feira do Requeixo e Mel (April)

The Feira do Requeixo e Mel is celebrated annually in April in A Capela, highlighting two emblematic products of the region: cottage cheese and honey. During the Fair, visitors can acquire these products directly from local producers, participate in tastings and attend workshops related to beekeeping and chest. The day also includes musical performances and activities for the whole family.

Ethnographic ethnoeume feria (August)

Do not miss the Ethnoeume Ethnographic Fair in O Pazo de A Capela, an event that celebrates the tradition and popular culture of the region. Organized by the Ethnographic Museum of A Capela, the fair offers traditional live music, artisanal baskets, pottery and other techniques, as well as live demonstrations of size, glass, lathe or talabartería. You can enjoy positions with local products, crafts and antiques, in addition to taste typical dishes such as octopus, churrasco and empanada.

Monfero

Xestoso Grelo Fair (March)

If you like Galician gastronomy, you can't miss the Feira do Grelo in the Val de Xestoso, in Monfero. Since 2000, this fair celebrates one of the treasures in the area: the grelos, with a soft texture and a sweeter taste than those of other regions, thanks to the unique weather and soil of these mountain parishes.

Every year, thousands of visitors approach to try and buy these fresh grelos, but also to enjoy local crafts, land products and even agricultural machinery. It is a party full of flavor, tradition and good atmosphere that connects the best of the earth with those who value it.

Romería de Nuestra Señora de Cela (July)

Monfero celebrates this pilgrimage in honor of the Virgin of Cela, her patron, with walks to the chapel, mass, procession and a day full of traditional music, local gastronomy and festive atmosphere. It is an appointment that unites faith, culture and nature in a unique Eume environment.

When to visit the Eume region to live your parties?

Although there are events throughout the year, highlighting the Entroido and Samain, the months with the greatest festive concentration are July, August and September. If you prefer to travel in autumn or winter, you can enjoy several gastronomic fairs on typical products of the area.
