A path with medieval soul

The old road of Caaveiro is an emblematic route that transports us over time, connecting the vestiges of the story with the lush nature of the Das Fragas do Eume Natural Park.

The tour begins in the parish church of Santiago de A Capela (12th century), a beautiful Romanesque temple that stands out for its accessible bell tower through a unique spiral stone staircase. In front of the Church is home Do Pazo, current Ethnographic Museum of A Capela, an ideal starting point for immersing himself in local culture before starting the walk.

Nature and heritage in a magical environment.

Following a former medieval path, the road enters us in the lush of Fragas do Eume, an ancient forest where the light filters between oaks, chestnuts and birch, creating an atmosphere of absolute serenity. We cross a medieval bridge and advance next to the Sesín River, which in its path form natural water terraces in the remains of the old mill. The culminating point of the tour is the Caaveiro monastery, an enclave with more than a thousand years of history that offers unmatched views of the Atlantic forest.

Return between shadows and tradition.

The return path takes us through the house of Caseiro, ascending in Zigzag through a path where the vegetation closes the passage of light, wrapping the atmosphere in a magical halo. Finally, we arrive at the Central road, completing a perfect circular route for those who seek a combination of landscape, history and hiking.
